How It Works

How to Approach Problems Like a Management Consultant is designed for professionals who are often tasked with complex business challenges. In this course, you’ll learn the value of a structured problem-solving approach, develop your own action plan, and execute that plan to find a solution. This course applies to the Strategy and Change Management certificate programs.
  • Define and Break Down the Problem

    Understand the need for a structured approach to problem-solving, and recognize the principles that enable effective work. Get clarity on the real problem to be solved, identify the issues to be addressed, and structure them into a hierarchy that enables focused work.
  • Plan the work

    Identify the tasks required to work through the issues, and identify sources of information and input. Prepare a clear statement of work, and organize tasks into manageable workstreams.
  • Work the Plan

    Engage external players and condition project team members for high-impact problem-solving. Facilitate insightful conclusions from the work and creative thinking about potential solutions.
  • Build the Case

    Build and test a case for action based on strong logic and evidence.
  • Make the Case and Start the Change

    Communicate the case for action in a persuasive manner to generate buy-in and action.
