Biography
Victoria Johnson enlisted in the U.S. Air Force with the goal of completing her undergraduate degree while contributing to a bigger purpose. After training in logistics and transportation management, she served four years, first at Misawa Air Base in Japan and McChord Air Force Base in Washington before transitioning from active duty to the reserves. Victoria is currently a staff sergeant stationed out of Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Georgia, as well as a logistics manager for Johnson & Johnson.
“Transitioning to the civilian workforce proved more challenging than I had expected,” Victoria shares. “I was learning how to navigate the corporate sector, struggling to find my purpose outside of the military, and unclear of how to apply my skills in an effective way toward my current role.” That’s when she met (Ret.) LTG Ken Keen who leads Emory’s Master in Business for Veterans program.
The program teaches veterans how to leverage their skills and translate them to the corporate world in a meaningful way while building off the unique leadership skills innate to all who have served. Victoria says, “The opportunity to participate in a program that values and supports veterans in such an innovative way made my decision simple.”
