Biography

Thomas entered the BBA Program with a focus on finance and a potential interest in investment banking.  He found that the program fosters a spirit of intellectual curiosity while simultaneously teaching practical professional development skills.  Thomas took advantage of numerous experiential avenues to solidify his interests. As a second-year student, Thomas attended an annual banking trek in New York City, facilitating real-world connection through visits to 15 banks over winter break. This trip allowed him to network with Goizueta alumni on Wall Street and learn more about exciting vocational paths in finance.  Back on campus, Thomas found that the relationships he developed and mentoring he received from faculty were invaluable to his personal and professional growth.

Emory also provided Thomas with the opportunity to pursue interests that weren’t explicitly aligned with business, including the completion of a second major in German Studies. To Thomas, Goizueta and Emory offer an answer to the age-old question of whether to be a small fish in a big pond or a big fish in a small pond. At Goizueta and Emory, you can be both. The university provides a gateway to the world while maintaining an inclusive, tight-knit international community where students can make a profound impact.

From the outside looking in, many non-business students assume that because professors must curve course grades, the business school environment will breed competition. Thomas found the opposite to be true during his time at Goizueta – students remain caring and collaborative, a reminder of the importance of building relationships and serving others even within a competitive business landscape.

After graduation, Thomas served as an Investment Banking Analyst in New York City. He subsequently moved to San Francisco to join Lazard’s healthcare investment banking team. He is focused on contributing to his team in the exciting world of biopharma and life sciences banking.
