Biography
A few years after moving to Atlanta from New York City, Oseremi Adekoye, or Remi, began considering an MBA. Before applying to Goizueta’s One-Year MBA program, he took a class at Emory and began to get a feel for the community. “It was the class size that really drew me here and the sense of community I felt when I visited Emory,” Remi says.
Before business school, Remi worked in community development finance, focusing on capital development for small businesses and underserved communities. He hopes to continue this work after graduation. “I love the work that I do,” he says. “I feel it's fulfilling, and it's very impactful. The MBA really was to deepen that skill and expand my perspective around capital deployment, whether that means through debt or through equity. I feel like I made the right choice. It was an easy decision for me.”
With 10 years of professional experience, Remi came to Goizueta looking to accelerate his learning while building on the skills and perspective he had developed throughout his career. He also wanted to make the most of his MBA experience in a way he felt he hadn’t during his undergraduate years.
At Goizueta, Remi joined a variety of clubs, was active in TEDx events and led the Turner Mint Impact Investment team. Most importantly, he focused on building lasting relationships with his classmates. “I wanted to build relationships with my classmates, long lasting relationships,” he says. “I took advantage of every opportunity to hang out and every opportunity to get to know folks in my class, whether it's within my core team, whether it's within the cohort of the One-Year program or beyond.”
That sense of community became one of the defining parts of Remi’s experience. “I feel like I know every single person individually. I have either invited folks into my home or been to their home. We've traveled together, we've explored the city together. We've been through the ups and downs and rigor of what an MBA program requires of you, and I have built really strong relationships and really expanded my network, not just demographically, but in all aspects of careers and what folks are doing with their lives.”
