Four Part Workshop Series
This workshop introduces the participants to the earnings and spending relationships and pattern, provides a few fundamental tools to get started tracking spending patterns to build a spending and savings plan.
Activities after class: Start tracking earnings and spending, pivot tables, establish a trading account

This workshop helps participants think about long run goals through investing and budget mindfulness. We dive back into the budgeting process and help participants make adjustments (that include modifying investments) to help reach longer-term goals and start on a path to investing. We ask participants to talk about the stocks that they purchased and stocks they would like to own.
Activities after class: Identify a savings goal, a time horizon, and monthly changes to meet that goal

This workshop helps participants understand the types of savings plans and investments. We walk through the differences of stocks and bonds, talk about insurance types and the risk-reward trade-off. We discuss compounding and the power of starting early.
Activities after class: Open a stock account, purchase at least 1 share of stock

At the end of Workshop 3, participants will be asked to open an individual trading account (Schwab, TD-Ameritrade, Robinhood, etc.), fund the account and purchase at least 1 share of stock. During Workshop 4 we will look at the stocks that people purchased, track the history of prices of those stocks, talk about dividends and stock-splits and talk about the reasons why people chose the stocks that they did. Participants will engage in research to build out a diversified portfolio of stocks that they would like to hold.
Activities after class: Make another purchase of a stock, identify a schedule of actively saving and investing money towards a goal.
