Biography

In the ever-evolving business landscape, Zander Lurie 1999 JD/MBA has proven himself a man comfortable with change. From his start with Pricewaterhouse- Coopers to positions with JPMorgan Chase, to leading roles with CNET Networks, CBS Interactive, GoPro, and his current responsibility as CEO of SurveyMonkey, Zander has taken whatever the world has thrown at him, and changed business for the better. This could be because of his no-nonsense, do-whatever-it-takes attitude. Or maybe it’s his wide range of interests, and passion for taking on new challenges. Or maybe it’s a combination of the tools, knowledge, and hands-on experience that he gained at Goizueta, that have allowed him to grow, adapt, and thrive in the constantly-changing global marketplace.

During his time at Goizueta, Zander took advantage of a robust curriculum, mastering the core business fundamentals that he would use at the base of all his future endeavors. From finance and tech to economics and international law, Zander had the freedom to explore all that modern business had to offer. By the time he graduated, Zander had developed the skills and confidence necessary to take on any new task, and any element of change, with passion, poise, and tenacity. But in 2015, Zander faced the most challenging pivot of his career. His friend and CEO of SurveyMonkey, Dave Goldberg, suddenly passed away. In an instant, everything changed. Virtually overnight, Zander transitioned to interim CEO for SurveyMonkey, where he was forced to balance employee morale, business expectations, and his own personal loss. “There are times when you are thrown into the fire and you have to dig deep and figure out ‘What are we going to do?’ Zander said. “As long as you have the best interest of colleagues, workers, friends, and family at heart, you’ll make the best decision possible at that moment.”

Zander kept his team—and the business— moving ahead, and SurveyMonkey has continued to prosper under his leadership. In January 2016, Zander accepted the role of CEO permanently. With a leader like Zander at the helm, who is unflinching in the face of change, SurveyMonkey will continue to be a competitive business force … no matter what obstacles lie ahead.
