Biography

Goizueta takes pride in its military programs, which did not go unnoticed by Marine Tyler Freeman. After completing his undergraduate degree, a promise he made to his mother after dropping out to join the Marines, Tyler was looking to do more than check a box of completion. “As I made my way through that process, armed with five and a half years of military service and the experience of working fulltime while in school, I realized that one day, I'd reach a point where I would need an advanced degree to get to where I wanted to ultimately be and to develop the requisite skills.”

Tyler immediately started looking for graduate programs with key components that would help him achieve his career goals. His list included programs with strong military-support systems, a small setting for him to thrive and network in, and a diverse campus culture that would help him evolve as a leader. “Goizueta's military support is unparalleled whichever way you slice it. From 50 Yellow Ribbon Scholarships to faculty that support veterans’ initiatives on campus to leadership inside of that faculty that are military, Goizueta had me at the word, ‘Go.’”

With a core focus on values, Tyler appreciates that Goizueta not only creates business leaders, but leaders who are ethical, principled and willing to go the extra mile. “It has paid off because I associate with Goizueta, and I tell people that I’m not just in school to learn a few lessons and Excel tricks. I'm at Goizueta to make the world better long after my time here is up.” He plans to bring that message into his community, more specifically the veterans’ community, and to use it as a “catalyst for action that’s contagious and inspiring.”
