Biography

Growing up in a suburban Georgia city, BBA student Julie Wang knew all about Emory University. So, when she was looking to expand her horizons, she didn’t have to look far. It didn’t take her long to realize what a unique and diverse community she would find at Emory.

“The biggest reason I chose to attend Emory by far was for the people. The people at Emory come from everywhere, and it was incredible seeing the diverse cultures and experiences that the students brought and shared on campus.”

Knowing she wanted to pursue business, she was immediately drawn to the BBA at Goizueta. However, she was unsure in what capacity. “With the way the core curriculum is organized, I got the chance to try everything and know what I liked and what I didn't like without pigeonholing myself too soon.”

One of the most valuable classes she took was Business Communications, which taught her how to capitalize on important business skills she plans to use in the future. “There's not been a single business class, I think, where you don't need to do some sort of presentation, and without a doubt, Business Communications has really helped me with my presentation skills.”

Not only did Julie explore various business classes, she was able to immerse herself in several different organizations at Emory such as Girls Who Code, Emory Esports, Delta Phi Lambda Sorority and more. Because she was so involved, Julie was able to grow her network while also making lifelong friendships.

“The Goizueta network is incredibly massive. Personally, even among students still at Emory, I have met so many people across Goizueta in the various clubs. These people have become some of my closest friends. Professionally, alumni and current students have always been willing to make time to answer any questions I had about careers, their own experience and interview prep.”
