Isabel Cohen

While earning her BBA degree from Goizueta in information systems and operations management, Isabel Cohen felt she was missing some essential skills for her future career. She decided to pursue the MS in Business Analytics program to earn a dual degree by graduation. “I felt like I was missing the technical component,” she says. “I felt confident working in Excel and doing some basic coding, but in my internship experience last summer, I realized I had no idea the extent of how deep you could really get with data analytics and predictive modeling and things like that.”

Since joining the program, Isabel has seen how technical knowledge can complement her background in business. She has even been able to share her strengths with her cohort. “Coding was not really my strong suit when I entered the program, but I'm pretty strong in my business background,” she says. “If I have friends that are really strong in computer science, I can help them in the business bootcamp. When it comes to coding bootcamp, they have my back.”

The support from the cohort extends beyond the classroom. Isabel is a player on Emory’s softball team and several students have come together to support her at games. “It definitely feels like a family,” she says. “I think this cohort has pushed me to be friends with people that I wouldn't ordinarily be friends with, and I think that's something that's really special about it. I've basically worked in a group or interacted with every single student in this program at least once, which is crazy to say, especially in a master's program.”

Isabel has also found a tremendous amount of support from the faculty. “Every single professor I've had genuinely wants you to succeed, wants you to do things you're passionate about and really wants to get to know you as an individual,” she says.
