Biography
One of the major benefits of attending an MBA program at Goizueta is having a university located in the heart of Atlanta, opening a world of diverse networks and possibilities. Starting a new job in a new city, New Jersey-native Eric Daiter 23EvMBA discovered this diversity firsthand, something he was searching for while researching programs. “In class, you’ll be sitting next to engineers, doctors, finance folks, and entrepreneurs, which leads to incredibly insightful class discussions,” he said. “It also leads to healthy opportunities to network across many different job types and creates opportunity to analyze new ways that you could embark on new job paths.”
During his part-time MBA program search, Eric spoke with students in many programs, but said students at Goizueta seemed to “click” a bit better than others. “If you are looking for an MBA program, I highly suggest sitting in on a class with current students,” he said. “Many times, when I would join a class, you could quickly tell the energy of the student body.”
Not only did Eric seek diversity through his classmates, but he also sought it in the courses being taught. “I considered it important to be a part of a supportive community that centered around a common goal of improving the business world over the long term and many of Goizueta’s values hit on those exact sentiments,” he said. “They were offering culturally relevant classes that were updated for what is happening in the current business world, not what was happening 20 years ago.”
During his time in the program, Eric was surprised at what he described as a “build your own adventure” experience. “You will be challenged to take yourself out of your comfort zone, meet tons of new people, learn subjects — some including math that I hadn’t seen in years — and encourage personal development,” he said. “Before I started, I assumed we would be shooed into meetings and after courses would feel like a CEO, but it takes a lot of personal confidence and drive in order to develop real change.”
