Biography

When Dipanjan “Deep” Goon entered the halls of Goizueta, he immediately felt at home. After working as a consultant at Deloitte Consulting for three years in software development and consulting, the MS in Business Analytics program piqued the Nigeria-native’s interest. “I wanted to learn more about data science, but because I was working in a business consulting firm and was working with business-specific clients, I realized I wanted to grow my technical skills. I wanted to be rooted in the business problems that we wanted to solve, leveraging this technology.”

Deep was immediately drawn to the small-by-design MSBA program for several reasons. From the one-on-one time with professors to asking questions in small-sized classrooms, Deep has appreciated his experience. “I have really enjoyed that kind of ‘individual-ness’ that I get when I'm in a smaller program like this,” he says.

Deep serves as the class representative, or class president, enabling him to get an even closer connection to his classmates, professors and even incoming class with the end goal to add new ideas and leave a lasting impact on the program.

“At Deloitte, I got into recruiting, specifically minority and first-generation students from all over the country,” Deep says. “I was leading a lot of recruiting, recruiting efforts and promoting diversity, equity and inclusion just within the company, especially in the tech space. This is one industry that I saw could get very unbalanced in the type of people that it may have.”

His passion for diversity continued in the MSBA program as Deep was pleasantly surprised to work and share ideas with a very diverse group of people within his cohort. By working with people from all over the world, Deep feels better prepared to work in any situation or environment as he looks to the future. “Anyone going into the corporate world after graduation, I doubt they'll have much of an issue fitting into any teams just because of the diversity of the teams that we're facing here.”

From working with his cohort, class projects and even his internship, these experiences have pushed Deep to continue to challenge himself.

“I've really enjoyed challenging myself and my ideas and trying to be more open, because in the end, I think how open you are to ideas, I think that's what eventually is going to help implement these new ideas and push the envelope.”
