Dual Degree PA/MBA

PA/MBA Dual Degree

The Business of Healthcare

Business decisions will have a broad impact on the delivery of healthcare in the 21st century. Earning an MBA as a Physician Assistant in this unique dual degree program opens up a wide array of career paths that blend clinical expertise with business and leadership skills. Beyond serving as a physician assistant, you can leverage your education to explore career opportunities in clinical administration, clinical operations, healthcare consulting, or even healthcare entrepreneurship.

PA/MBA Format and Duration

The PA/MBA dual degree is designed to complete both degrees sequentially within 3.5 years, allowing students to immediately enter the clinical workforce upon graduation. Students enter the One-Year MBA degree in May, and upon completion, begin the PA program in August of year two.

Admissions Details

Students must apply to One-Year MBA (Goizueta Business School) and Physician Assistant program (School of Medicine) separately. If a student is accepted to both programs, they can enroll in the PA/MBA dual degree.

One-Year MBA Admissions

PA Admissions

Applicants interested in the PA/MBA degree have at least 2000 hours of clinical work under their belt. While some students come directly from undergrad, others arrive at Emory to build a second career. No matter your professional résumé, the MBA Admissions Committee is interested in hearing how your life and work experiences will add to MBA class discussions and the future business or leadership trajectory of your career.

A college internship, part-time job, or family business experience can provide relevant work experience to strengthen your file. MBA classes are highly participatory and lively class discussions are a key part of the learning process. Our recommendation is that you prepare your application in a way that highlights the skills you have gained from your work and organizational experiences.

Admission to the PA/MBA dual degree requires a Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Candidates should prepare vigorously for the quantitative portion of the test as candidates are expected to exceed the 50th percentile on the quantitative section of the exam. Most of our students score at the 75-80th percentile. Please visit our Frequently Asked Questions regarding test scores if you have additional questions.

Every applicant who submits a completed application by the Round 3 deadline and is admitted to Goizueta is automatically reviewed for merit-based, school-funded scholarships. No separate application is required; merit-based awards typically range from 20% to full tuition. If a student receives a scholarship, it only applies to the semesters that they are enrolled in Goizueta Business School.
