Biography
As an Atlanta native, one of the reasons RJ chose Emory because of its close connection to Atlanta’s rich culture. He felt this, in combination with the idea of being challenged academically while also having the freedom to explore a variety of interests, would provide him with a well-rounded and enriching college experience.
Upon entering the BBA Program, RJ was drawn to the concept of servant leadership and found that Goizueta provided fertile ground for that interest to flourish. He engaged in a variety of leadership opportunities, and these experiences all had a focus on giving back to the community and/or helping his peers grow. As a result, RJ feels even more motivated to pursue opportunities through which he can use his skills to not only achieve goals, but also to empower and support others.
When asked about his favorite part of the BBA Program, RJ responded, “Picking just one favorite part of the BBA program is tough, but the incredible sense of community and the supportive faculty really stand out. The program is full of students doing amazing things, but everyone is always willing to lend a hand. It’s inspiring to see the collaborative spirit and the student-driven initiatives that happen around campus. And the faculty? They’re all experts in their fields and genuinely invested in helping students grow both personally and professionally. Their guidance goes beyond academics, and that makes a huge difference. That combination of a supportive community and exceptional faculty is what makes the program truly special.”
One of the aspects of the program that RJ appreciated most was the opportunity to engage in real-world experiences to complement his classroom learning. This included presentations to senior members within client organizations, through which he received valuable feedback from industry experts on his recommendations while honing his skills in a high-pressure setting.
RJ is starting his career as a product marketing analyst at UPS Capital in Atlanta. This role will allow him to work on a variety of projects, including some that incorporate AI and new customer-facing tools, aligning with his interest in customer experience marketing. He is eager to leverage the program’s emphasis on teamwork as he collaborates with colleagues, and sees this role as a spring-board for a long-term career in marketing.
