Students in Emory's doctoral program in Information Systems & Operations Management may pursue a track in either Information Systems (IS) or Operations Management (OM).

  • Information Systems Track

    Information is a core concept in business, and information systems embody the essential processes that transmit, translate, and transform information within and between businesses. The IS track focuses on these phenomena from the standpoint of management practice, enterprise opportunity, and market possibilities. Strong candidates in the Information Systems track may have prior coursework and practical experience in computer programming, computer sciences, cognitive science, or aspects of systems design and implementation.
  • Operations Management Track

    Operations Management is a central business function that is concerned with the effective management of developing new products and services, as well as the logistics operations of production and distribution. Research in this area covers a wide array of topics and builds upon a variety of disciplines including Economics, Statistics, Psychology, and Operations Research. Candidates for the Operations Management track are expected to have a strong analytical background with coursework in mathematics, economics, or engineering.
