Waiver Exams & Course Preparation
Waiver Exams
A waiver exam is an opportunity to demonstrate that you have sufficient prior knowledge of a subject. A student who receives the required score or above on a waiver exam does not have to take the corresponding core course. However, any student successfully waiving a core course will need to take at least one elective in its place at any time during his/her MBA. Waiver exams are offered each semester prior to the semester in which the core class is offered. Successfully passing a waiver does not reduce the total number of credit hours needed for graduation. You will be emailed instructions about how to register for the exams and Students may only take a waiver exam once for the same course.
Course Preparation
Foundation Courses
Some students may be required to complete one or more Foundation Courses – financial accounting, statistics, and/or microeconomics – during their first year of study. These sessions will be provided prior to the corresponding course. Your admissions offer will indicate which Foundations Courses are required and the Evening MBA Program Office will contact you with more information in July before Onboarding begins.
Foundation Courses are held on-campus, led by Goizueta faculty instructors, and are designed to prepare you and your classmates for success in the core courses. Attendance is mandatory and a condition of your admission and enrollment at Emory University.
