Biography
With Emory University being located near the heart of Atlanta, many students find themselves drawn to the endless possibilities a large city can provide. Indera Sahadeo 23FTMBA had many determining factors while considering MBA programs, such as curriculum, community and culture, but she also considered location. âAtlanta stands out because of its melting pot of cultures that create a plethora of unique experiences for its residents,â she said. âUltimately, it was important for me to pursue my MBA in a place where I felt culturally safe, but somewhere that would also expand my professional and social network. For me, that place was Atlanta.â
Atlanta has experienced rapid growth in its population and job market over the past few years, enabling Goizueta students to be exposed to more diverse companies. âEmory was once considered a âconsultingâ school; however, with the growing presence of tech, entertainment, film and media giants, Emory is uniquely positioned to build more pipelines with corporations in these industries,â she said. âWith its melting pot of cultures, Atlanta is the perfect place to learn about new cultures and explore new interests while getting a world-class education at Goizueta Business School.â
Prior to entering business school, Indera never believed she would be able to interview in Atlantaâs growing big tech market. However, through resources at Goizueta and the Career Management Center, Indera was able to secure an internship with Microsoft. âBecause of the students before me who established relationships in big tech through their internships and full-time employment, it was easier for me leverage their experiences and knowledge during my recruiting process,â she said.
As someone with a non-traditional business background, Indera was drawn to the Career Management Centerâs level of involvement with students. âI saw the CMC's expertise as a huge benefit in helping me pivot from a non-tech background into a marketing career in tech,â she said. âAdditionally, I knew Goizueta's intimate community would provide me with one-on-one access to staff, faculty, and even my classmates, providing the opportunity to foster deeper, more meaningful relationships beyond the classroom.â
