Biography

Back in his home country of India, Sukhreet Singh started a chain of pharmacies, but when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, he found that it was a good time for introspection and reflection. “I thought that I wanted to have a bigger impact outside my immediate sphere, and that's why I wanted to pursue an MBA,” Sukhreet says. “I thought that this would give me an opportunity to pivot to a broader strategy role, perhaps moving forward in the future.”

Emory was the obvious choice as Sukhreet wanted to move his career into consulting. “I have been very happy with my decision because the kind of opportunities that I've received here at Emory have been much more than what I had expected.”

While his sole focus was on consulting, Sukhreet found a plethora of opportunities at Goizueta that broadened his horizons, allowing him to learn more about venture capital, private equity, marketing and corporate finance. “That kind of encouraged me to stray away from the path that I had initially come into and look at more opportunities,” he says. “The business school has done a terrific job in providing me those opportunities and exploring the different career paths that I can choose from moving forward.”

When Sukhreet applied to Goizueta, he read online about the small, tight-knit community but didn’t know what that would fully entail. After going through the program, he now has a complete understanding of what it means to be part of the Goizueta family. “We are in it with each other,” he says. “You will always feel supported, and if you want to do something, you will always have the platform within the business school to achieve that. Everyone will go out of their way to support you.”

As Sukhreet approaches graduation, he reflects back on his early days at Goizueta and realizes just how quickly the two years pass. “Having some work experience before coming to the business school makes you realize how valuable these two years are,” he says. “I have taken this opportunity to stretch myself out and learn about as many things as I could.”
