Biography

Karen Ton completed her PhD in Accounting at University of Southern California. Prior to joining the faculty at Emory in 2015, Ton held positions at USC and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and is an active Certified Public Accountant in the State of California. Ton's primary research focus is related to financial accounting, auditing, and corporate restructuring. In 2020, Ton was awarded the Crystal Apple for Excellence in Undergraduate Business Education.

It is an expertise she developed during her years at USC Marshall – first as an undergraduate and then as a Ph.D. candidate in accounting.     Karen Ton, assistant professor of accounting, received the Emory Crystal Apple for Excellence in Undergraduate Business Education in February. Sponsored by the Residence Hall Association, the Crystal Apple Awards honor faculty members who go above and beyond in their search for knowledge and involvement in the Emory community. Students provide the nominations, and this year the committee received more than 200 nominations.
