This session features Ray Ortega, MD, MBA, FACS, who is a Vice President of Strategic Initiatives R&D at MiMedx. Ray’s background includes a BS degree with a concentration in Applied Science-Mechanical Engineering from the United States Military Academy, West Point an MD degree from Cornell University Medical College in New York, and a Masters in Business Administration from the Goizueta Business School of Emory University. He completed a surgical residency at Thomas Jefferson University and a plastic surgery residency at the University of Alabama. Ray has held faculty appointments at Columbia University and at SUNY Downstate where he was Chief of their Plastic Surgery section. He has extensive surgery, plastic surgery and wound care experience. Dr. Ortega has numerous publications and grant awards. Ray has served as a Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, completed Army Ranger training, and served as a US Army Special Forces Green Beret.
