The Courage to Connect: Jeffrey and Carole
Schwartz

At Goizueta Business School, we welcome and encourage the involvement of alumni, many of whom remain active in the life of the school many years after their graduation. Two such alumni who have made a significant contribution to the quality of the education at Goizueta at Jeffrey and Carole Schwartz, who have served on both our alumni board and the campaign committee.

Creating Community and Engaging the World at Large

Jeffrey and Carole Schwartz could easily be described as a power couple. He is CEO of ProLogis, the world's largest global provider of distribution facilities and services. She was KPMG's first female partner for the West Coast of Florida before retiring in 2002. But it is the power of their commitment to give back that makes them influential citizens of the Goizueta community and the greater world.

ProLogis is the first real estate business to issue an annual sustainability report, and the company incorporates sustainable energy technologies into its facilities, including solar and wind-generated energy. In China the company builds one school for every five million square feet of warehouse space it opens, including four since 2006. "It is extremely gratifying to do something good like that while doing powerful business for our shareholders," he says.

Jeff Schwartz was named to the Emory Board of Trustees in 2008, and Carole is a past member of the Goizueta alumni board and currently serves on the campaign committee. As business leaders and as a family, the Schwartzes are committed to causes close to their hearts: sustainability, education, and health.

Instilling a Culture of Philanthropy

Carole Schwartz says the culture of philanthropy that Goizueta instills has become a lifelong passion. "When you are raising children, you want to create a better future for them and to make the world a better place."

By helping to establish Goizueta programs such as our Center for Hedge Funds and Private Equity as well as our Real Estate Program, and enhance existing facilities like the Goizueta Business Library, your gift provides vehicles for the funding of new research, dissertations and leadership development programming, which helps attract faculty and students of the highest quality.
