Expanding Marketing Knowledge - and Horizons
An experienced marketing research analyst with an undergraduate degree in Spanish studies and art history, Marcia Gomez chose to attend Goizueta because of the world-class academic programs we offer - including the Goizueta Marketing Strategy Consultancy - that bring fresh perspectives to analyzing minority markets. She was awarded the prestigious Goizueta Scholar scholarship, which made it possible for her to attend.
Each year, as part of an academic class and competition, student teams from the strategy consultancy work with an adviser on marketing research projects for major corporate as well as nonprofit sponsors, ranging from the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta to The Coca-Cola Company. Gomez's team worked on a project to determine whether Georgia-Pacific should launch a new product category and won first place for the 2008 competition's best academic paper and second place for best presentation.
Building Effective Leadership Skills
As her second year began at Goizueta, Gomez began taking on a leadership role in the consultancy, working with assistant marketing professor Reshma Shah to build a brand around the group, to market its offerings to companies nationwide. With both her professional experience and her Goizueta education, Gomez is building a career focusing on market research in the Hispanic and African-American youth markets.
