Woodruff Fellow
After completing her Industrial and Systems Engineering degree at Georgia Tech and working in the software industry and as an entrepreneur, Liz Stanton knew it was time to consider an MBA. With her sights set on a career in marketing and strategy, Liz found Goizueta Business School to be the perfect fit. The community and people she met initially drew Liz to Goizueta, and her exceptional academic and leadership background earned her the prestigious Woodruff Fellowship, a key element of her decision. At Goizueta, we can recognize outstanding students like Liz because of the generosity of donors.

At Goizueta, Liz immersed herself in numerous leadership activities including serving as the Executive Vice President of the Graduate Business Association, working with the Career Management Center as a peer career coach for first year MBA students, assisting with Welcome Weekend as the scholars committee chair, joining the Goizueta Marketing Association and Goizueta Women in Business clubs, and participating in the Coca-Cola Marketing Competition. She balances these activities with exceptional academic performance and has been on the Deans List for the past two semesters.
In the summer of 2009, an internship with AirTran Airways' marketing strategy group provided Liz with the opportunity to participate in a variety of projects, including building a performance measurement system, helping AirTran Airways' partners build branded campaigns, and designing strategy to move AirTran into the social media space.
As one of Goizueta's named scholars, Liz has been able to participate in unique activities. A highlight for Liz occurred this fall when Duncan Niederauer, CEO of NYSE Euronext, invited a small group of named scholars for a special session. Niederauer, a fellow Woodruff alum at Goizueta, sat down with the group for an intimate discussion and question and answer session. Says Liz, "Goizueta's reputation is a product of its students and alumni. Being part of a great school like Goizueta makes for a great network.
Liz recognizes the importance scholarships play in the decision-making when considering returning to school for an MBA. "Scholarships like the Woodruff can definitely sway someones decision about where to go to school. It made me just that much more confident about my own decision to come to Goizueta and it has been a great honor for me."
We encourage all of our alumni to give to the Business Fund for Excellence so that we can continue to recognize the achievement and potential of students like Liz Stanton.
