Pathways Scholar
Daniel had his sights set on Emory University and Goizueta Business School since his high school days in Miami, Florida. After graduating from Emorys Oxford College in 2008, a successful internship at Morgan Stanleys New York office and a firm offer in hand to return to Morgan Stanley after graduation, Daniel is now in his final year at Goizueta. Your gift to the Business Fund for Excellence goes directly to the strategic goals of the school, such as recognizing exemplary students like Daniel, for their outstanding merit and contribution to the campus community.

Academic merit and outstanding leadership skills earned Daniel the Pathways Scholarship, a full-tuition award to a student coming from Oxford College to Goizueta. Having served as a resident advisor at Oxford, president of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, vice president of two student organizations, an officer of the Student Government Association, and as an Economics Teaching Assistant, Daniel clearly represents the true spirit of the award. Now at Goizueta, Daniel is the Corporate and Alumni Relations Chair for the BBA Council and also manages the shadow program for BBAs, which matches undergrads with companies so that student can gain a snapshot of an industry. Another point of pride for Daniel is serving as co-president of the Alternative Investment Group, which connected him with the Emory Center for Alternative Investments. Under the guidance of Goizueta Professor Klaas Baks, Daniel has helped organize the BBA/MBA Private Equity Competition, as well as multiple panel discussions with hedge fund managers. "You cannot get the whole Goizueta experience without getting involved. Plus, exposure to networking opportunities was incredibly helpful."
Early accounting, finance and economics classes convinced Daniel that Wall Street was his calling. He credits his hard work and dedication and the tremendous networking opportunities and preparation provided by Goizueta for helping him reach his dream. His internship at Morgan Stanley in the equity research division offered Daniel the opportunity to be on a team that interacts with hedge fund managers, portfolio managers, and with high profile companies such as Kellogg and Kraft Foods, build financial models, attend meetings and network with executives in the Morgan Stanley research division.
Daniel would like to thank all the donors who help to continue the tradition of giving back and for providing support for awards like the Pathways Scholarship that acknowledges driven students who want to make an impact in the business world.
If you give back, you are shaping students today to compete in tomorrows business world. Plus, it just feels good to give back. I see myself giving back to Emory, Goizueta and Oxford because they benefited me so much in instilling a positive work ethic and preparing me for my career.
