Biography
Professor Mary Ann Glynn joined the Goizueta Business School faculty in 1993, after serving on the faculty of Yale University's School of Organization and Management. She serves, by courtesy, as a professor in the Department of Sociology at Emory University, and was a visiting professor in Management & Organization at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan Business School for 2002-2004. Currently, Mary Ann serves as the Doctoral Studies Coordinator for the O&M area. Mary Ann is teaching a new elective course Bus 663, Principled Leadership.
Research and Scholarship
Mary Ann's research focuses on understanding organizational change, creativity, and innovation. She examine two sets of influences: cognitive processes of organizational learning and intelligence, and cultural and institutional processes of identity formation and symbolic management. Current projects include studies of organizational naming practices, identity dynamics in cultural organizations and industries, and corporate malfeasance.
She is also the nationally elected Program Officer (5-year position), Academy of Management, Managerial and Organizational Cognition Division, an Editor for the Journal of Management Inquiry and a Board Member of Organization Science. Her research has been published in many of the leading journals, including Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, and Poetics, as well as in numerous edited books.
