Goizueta Investors (GI) is Emory’s premier Investment Club for students who are interested in learning about finance, regardless of their major. Created with the beginner investor in mind, GI provides free educational content that is jargon-free and helps to bridge the gap between academia and the real world. Through meetings, specialty seminars, advanced workshops and an elite GI Roundtable, Goizueta Investors seeks to teach students about global financial markets in a fun and dynamic environment.
To keep our members informed between meetings, we run an interactive website, www.GoizuetaInvestors.com, featuring event pictures, a Beginners Guide to Investing, our Market Blog with original content, Dean Benveniste’s Blog and additional educational resources. In addition to printing copies, we also publish our weekly GI Market Newsletter to our website.
GI holds monthly meetings to discuss recent headlines and analyze their impact on the global market. Furthermore, members update each other on the leaders and successful trading strategies of our Annual Fantasy Stock Market Game, where participants compete with pretend money for a grand prize. Past prizes have included various gift cards and an Apple iPhone. GI hosts various seminar series and panel discussions with industry professionals from around the world on an array of topics from beginner investing strategies and advanced discounted cash flow valuations to finance interview prep and investment banking recruiting.
GI is developing several new programs that we hope will continue to bridge the gap between the world of academia and the real world of finance. The Goizueta Investors Executive Board is excited to announce a new program we are bringing to undergraduate BBA's. GI will be providing research, trading ideas, and analysis on an equity portfolio managed by the Goizueta MBA Investment Management club. We are building a team of hardworking BBAs that avidly follow the US equity markets and are interested in working directly with Goizueta MBA students to research, analyze, and propose investments in specific sectors.
GI Sector Analysts will work directly with their respective MBA counterparts to manage the portfolio's existing positions in each sector and propose ideas and background research related to fundamental valuation and technical market movements. Quantitative and qualitative skill building will be stressed during the program. The position will be rigorous, entailing a minimum of a few hours each week devoted to following the markets and working with the MBAs and GI Board to positively impact the portfolio. We aim to give participants a broad level of exposure to equity research and trading, further preparing them for careers in finance upon graduation, along with a great extra-curricular activity upon which to draw during interviews and career applications.
