I was born in Poland in the times when communism was shattering and capitalist society was being born. In those times Poland was struggling to define itself and oftentimes this struggle gave rise to bizarre situations in which the remnants of the communist system would coexist with the ideas of the West. The years I have spent in Poland and the years I have spent in the U.S. have taught me that things are not always what they seem. We cannot be sure of things unless we have lived through them. I approach the academic research in this way. I do not take things for granted and I do not take statements for facts. Through my research I try to understand how the world works starting from the most basic levels... I guess one may say that my background makes me a researcher.
