International Students
For candidates whose native language is not English, we require either the TOEFL or, in cases where the TOEFL is not available, the IELTS exam. The minimum required TOEFL score is 100 on the internet based test, 250 on the computer based test, or 600 for the paper-based test. The minimum required IELTS score is 7.0.
The TOEFL may be waived if candidates:
- Have spent at least 3 years in the U.S. working toward completion of an undergraduate degree, OR
- Have completed a graduate degree followed by at least 2 years of work in the U.S., OR
- Are from countries where their junior high school (equal to 7th and 8th grade in the U.S.) and high school education is in English; their full university education is in English; and commerce in their country is generally conducted in English. (Examples of such countries include: Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Ghana, Nigeria and Uganda.)
Work Requirements
Concurrent work experience is a requirement for the Executive MBA Program. For students who are on an Emory sponsored F1 visa, employment by a US organization will be limited to part-time work during the first two semesters of study. After two semesters of full-time enrollment at Emory, students on an F1 visa will be allowed to work full-time while completing the MBA degree. It is the responsibility of the EMBA student to make arrangements for their own work experience. F1 students who are current employees of a firm outside the US may request an exemption from the concurrent work requirement.
