Goizueta Team Participates in Global Health Case Competition
The Emory Global Health Case Competition was held in early April at the School of Medicine. The case competition brought students from all of the University's different colleges/schools together (both graduate and undergraduate) to take on a challenging 21st century global health challenge. Such a challenge required a multidisciplinary approach and all eight competing teams brought that to the table as each team featured students from at least 3 different schools. All eight teams did a spectacular job of exploring the issue of uncomplicated severe acute malnutrition in Oromiya, Ethiopia.
Please congratulate the following MBA students for participating in this exciting case competition: Marie Desir 10MBA, Shanice Wang 09MBA, Dan Wang 09MBA, David Papa 10MBA, Suresh Gunupure 09MBA, Leslie Marshburn 10MBA, and Jay Prasad 09MBA. Marie led Team #1 to the first place prize and Leslie led Team #6 to the second place price.
It was an exciting weekend for Global Health and it would have not been possible without the support of the sponsors (Global Health Institute, Emory Graduate Senate, Candler School of Theology), student participants (40 students from throughout the university), judges (including Dr. Michael Johns- Chancellor Emory University, Dr. Chris Howard- Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Tarun Gulrajani- PriceWaterhouseCoopers, and Dr. Noel Erskine- Associate Professor of Theology and Ethics at Candler), mentors (various health professionals including several Rollins School of Public Health faculty), the Global Health Institute Student Advisory Committee that planned and operated the event.
Hats off to the business school for coming out and playing a leading role in the case competition!
