Being highly active and eventually a leader of a career-related club (Goizueta Healthcare Association) really helped me connect with the Goizueta Network in the industry  and functional area I wanted to be in. I think having a reason (e.g. seeking presenters for lecture series, career panels, etc.), other than just networking, to reach out to alumni, professors and community members really helped me get my foot in the door and create relationships with people that I could then rely on for support in my career search.
